DESCRIPTION
Colour Skimcoat is a thin plastering mortar formulated for exterior applications varying from 0-5mm in thickness. It covers minor imperfections, corrects surface uneveness of raw concrete and plastered surfaces to achieve a smooth finish. Colour Skimcoat reduces construction costs by replacing three products - concrete neutralizer, patching compound and basecoat. Colour Skimcoat is a product that is easy to apply and produces superior results.
COMPLIED STANDARD
• TCVN 7239:2014
• EN 998, EN 1015
• BS 4551
ADVANTAGES
- Available waterproofing and allowing water vapor to pass.
- Additional corrosion protection in steel reinforced precast wall
- Eliminate dampness in the substrate - prolong the durability of paint
- Suitable for preventing water seepage in fire wall
- Reduces paint consumption
- Highly recommended for substrate with high water absorption like AAC block
- Suitable for exterior and interior wet areas like kitchen, toilets etc.
- Recommended on top of insulation systems like thermal insulation renders
METHOD TO USE
Surface preparation
The surface must be fully cured, structurally stable, level, even, clean & free from paint & contaminants such as dirt, dust, loose material, oils & chemicals. Concrete surface must be cured for a minimum of 3 days priorto Colour Skimcoat application. The use of a level bar is essential to ensure levelness and / or plumbness of the surface. For painted surfaces, acid etch or abrade paint to ensure proper bonding. Prior to application, wet substrate well with clean water using a sponge or a roller brush. For outdoor application & during extreme hot weather conditions, such as noon time or summer, wet substrate very well and more frequently before applying skimcoat.
Mixing
In a clean plastic pail, mix clean water with Skimcoat. Mixture should attain a smooth, creamy & lump-free consistency. Use a mixing torque for best results. Mixing time: 2 - 3 minutes. Let mixture rest for 15 mins. Mix again briefly before use.
Application
While the substrate is still damp, apply Colour skimcoat to desired application thickness (0 - 5mm) using a steel trowel.
Finishing
Colour skimcoat requires a minimum of 3-5 days curing prior to application of primer. This replaces the use of concrete neutralizer. Paint can be applied at least 3 days after application to reduce the alkalinity
